Ambassador Inkiriwang visited Pravets Municipality

Ambassador Inkiriwang paid a courtesy visit to the Mayor of Pravets, Mr. Krassimir Zhivkov. This visit was the first to be made by an Indonesian Ambassador to the Municipality. With the Mayor, Ambassador Inkiriwang discussed possible cooperation between the Embassy and the Municipality to enhance Indonesia-Bulgaria relations, which would be later included in the work programme of the Embassies as well as the Municipality in 2009.

Mayor Zhivkov had expressed his intention to have a sister city cooperation with a city in Indonesia. Ambassador Inkiriwang and Mayor Zhivkov agreed to have cooperation by giving presentation about Indonesia in the universities, regional chambers of commerce and industry, and participation of the Embassy in the cultural festivals in the Municipalities through the performances of Indonesian cultural ensemble, Indonesian film festival, photo exhibition, Indonesian culinary events et cetera. The Ambassador Inkiriwang also informed the Mayor about Darmasiswa Scholarship Programme 2009. Both also agreed to organize a sport weekend event and picnic between the Municipality and foreign embassies in Sofia.

During the visit, the Ambassador visited the City University in Seattle from the United States, located in the centre of the Municipality, and met with the Executive Director, Mrs. Katya Dotsheva;  Pravets Sports Complex, the pride and joy of the Municipality where the Ambasaador and the Mayor presented trophies at the final of local high school basketball competition: the Todor Tiron Monastery, the symbol of the city and also the Municipality Museum. Located about 64 km from the Capital Sofia, the Municipality of Pravets was once knowm as the location for Bulgaria's first computer plan.  It is also known as the birth place of former leader of Bulgarian Communist Party, Todor Zhivkov (1911-1998).
