Indonesia will participate as Partner Country at the International Spring Fair 2009 in Plovdiv, 12-17 May 2009

Thursday, 23 April 2009

In spite of the current global economic crisis, the Indonesian Government has decided to accept the invitation by the Executive Director of International Fair Plovdiv AD, Mr. Georgi Gergov, to participate as Partner Country at "International Consumer Goods and Technologies Fair 2009", generally known as "International Spring Fair (ISF) 2009" in Plovdiv on 12-17 May 2009, the largest trade fair in the Balkan region (the 4th largest in Europe after Frankfurt, Hannover and Leipzig). Through the participation at the ISF 2009, Indonesia is preparing itself to be ready to penetrate further the emerging markets in the Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkan and the Black Sea regions, as well as larger market within the European Union (EU), in full force when the global economy will start showing its sign of recovery from the crisis.

CEOs and owners from 28 Indonesian companies - representing a wide array of well known Indonesian exotic, unique and high quality products, such as furniture (wood, rattan, bamboo and other natural products), jewelry (gold, silver and gemstone products), handicraft, garment and textile, leather products, footwear, bags, lighting and home accessories, including tour and travel - will participate at the ISF 2009. Indonesian officials from several ministries and government  institution (Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Industry, Ministry for Small & Medium Enterprises, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board) as well as officials from trade and industry offices from 3 major provincial governments (Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and Central Java) will also be present.

Indonesia has been actively participating in the ISF for 4 years in-a-row.  This year's participation as Partner Country marks a new era for Indonesia-Bulgaria economic cooperation. Indonesia sees the opportunity in enhancing further mutually beneficial economic relations with Bulgaria, noting Bulgaria’s strategic location as a "hub" and gateway for Indonesian products to Central and Eastern Europe, Balkan and the Black Sea regions, as well as a member of the EU.
