INDONESIAN COOKING DEMONSTRATION Residence of the Ambassador, 17 June 2009
5 Indonesian traditional cooking
were demonstrated at the event (download recipes): fried rice (nasi
goreng), Indonesian beef stew (semur
daging), risoles (rissole
with chicken filling), and sesame
chicken wing (sayap
ayam goreng wijen) and Indonesian
pickled vegetables (acar). These 5
recipes were carefully chosen to ensure that they are easy to cook and
use ingredients that are available in Bulgaria. Demonstration was made
by Ms. Karwati, cook of the Residence of the Ambassador, while Mrs. Fely
Rose Inkiriwang and Mrs. Eva Putro explained to the guests about the
process.
Before
the demonstration, Mrs. Fely Rose Inkiriwang welcomed the guests and
thanked them for attending the event. Mrs. Inkiriwang explained about
Indonesian culinary in brief. Indonesian food is as rich and diverse as
the culture in Indonesia, she said. Almost all provinces and towns have
their own unique traditional way of cooking, while in general various
kinds of spices and some typical tropical ingredients like coconut oil
are commonly used. Indonesian recipes are passed down from generations
to generations, while some adaptations to modern and outside influence
have also been made. Indonesian foods are not only delicious but also
attractive due to its radiant colors and aroma derived from the use of
fresh spices and herbs. Mrs. Fely Rose Inkiriwang was born on 23 July 1957 in Bacolod City, the Philippines. She accompanied her husband, AmbassadorInkiriwang, through his various diplomatic assignments in New York - US, (1982-87 and 1993-1996) and Los Angeles - US(1990-1993); Vienna - Austria (2004-2007) and now in Sofia (since October 2007). Together they are blessed with 1 son and 2 daughters. Mrs. Fely Rose Inkiriwang is active in organizational activities. She was Secretary of the United Nations Delegates’ Wives Club in New York and Chairperson of the Pérez de Cuéllar Scholarship Fund. In 1998-2000 she was the President of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) Women Circle in Jakarta when Ambassador Inkiriwang assumed the post of Deputy Secretary General of ASEAN. And now she is an active member of the International Women’s Club in Sofia. Her hobby includes reading, travelling and some sporting activities (bowling, volley ball, table tennis and golf).
