Batik comes from Javanese word  "amba" which means to write and "nitik". The word itself describe the technique of batik making patterns - using a canting or stamp - and dyeing fabrics by using a material obstacle to the color shades of "night" ( wax ) is applied over the fabric, so resist the entry of dye. Batik is historically the most expressive and subtle of the resist methods. The ever widening range of techniques available offers the artist the opportunity to explore a unique process in a flexible and exciting way. Batik is a craft that has high artistic value and has become part of the culture of Indonesia (particularly Java) since long time ago.
