Yudhoyono condemns Jakarta hotel blastsFriday, 17 July 2009 The Jakarta Post President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has condemned the fatal blasts at two luxury hotel in Jakarta on early Friday morning, referring to the incident as a “despicable act of terror.”Yudhoyono, speaking in a live-to-air statement, said the attack has shaken the peaceful and secure conditions that have prevailed in Indonesia in the past several years. “This action was taken by a few people who do not have sense of humanity and who do not care about our economy, our business climate, tourism and our image across the world,” he said. Yudhoyono said he was deeply concerned by the attack that has damaged Indonesia's growing economy and increasing stability. The president instructed the police, the military and the State Intelligence Agency to investigate “quickly and thoroughly” and bring the culprits to justice. “I believe that we can apprehend the perpetrators and put them on trial, as we have done in the past,” he said. A pair of explosions hit the JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels in the high-end business district of Mega Kuningan in Jakarta killing at least nine people and injuring at least 50 others, including foreign nationals.
