The
Central Statistics Agency (BPS) said Sunday that the Indonesian economy
grew more than 6 percent in 2010 thanks to growth of almost 7 percent in
the last quarter of 2010.
“We
are still finalizing the exact number, but it could reach more than 6
percent,” BPS chair Rusman Heriawan said, as quoted by
tempointeraktif.com.
Ahmad Erani Yustika, an economist from the Institute for Development of
Economics and Finance (INDEF), estimated Indonesia’s economy would grow
by 6.2 percent this year. Ahmad said the quick growth in the last quarter of last year would continue into early 2011 as long as the government could reap benefits from rising food and oil prices.
